A 35-year-old man was recently arrested in a Kentucky Walmart after being on the run from authorities for more than nine months.

The man is facing sexual assault charges in Racine, Wisconsin for allegedly molesting a child. According to the news source, the child reported the sexual assault to authorities in March. However, police claim the molestation began sometime earlier in September 2009. Authorities believe the man left Wisconsin very soon after the child reported the crimes to police.

The arrest took place on Jan. 11 in a Louisville Walmart around 10 p.m. According to reports, the man resisted arrest at first. The 35-year-old man will likely be extradited back to Wisconsin to face the charges against him.

Whether charged in Kentucky or elsewhere, sex crimes are a serious offense. Depending on the charge, a person can face time behind bars. They may also be included on sexual predator registries for the rest of their life.

Even if a person is found innocent of the crimes, it may be hard for them to escape the allegations. It is for that reason that a strong criminal defense is needed.

Those who have been charged with a sex crime would likely benefit from working with a criminal defense attorney. An attorney can investigate a case, and look closely at the evidence. From there, they can work on a defense against the charges.

Even if someone is charged with a serious crime, they still have the same rights as everyone else. That includes the right to a fair trial and a strong defense.
