A former Kentucky man is in trouble with the law after authorities claim he had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl living in another state. He has been charged with three counts of sexual assault. In addition, he faces two felony charges of traveling to meet a minor and using the Internet to seduce a minor to have sex.

According to officials, the alleged sexual assaults occurred in the fall of 2010. They claim that the man moved to Illinois from Kentucky specifically to pursue a sexual relationship with the 16 year old.

The 47-year-old man was arrested on Mar. 5 in Wisconsin. He was being held on $50,000 bond and will likely face extradition to Illinois. He will appear in court later this month.

Someone who is found guilty of a sex crime may face harsh penalties. They could face time behind bars and may be forced to register as a sex offender. In addition, the mere allegation of a sex crime can be extremely damaging to an individual’s reputation.

It is for that reason why it is important for an individual charged with a sex crime to consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney can fight the charges and work to ensure that their client’s rights remain protected throughout the entire process.

Even someone who is facing serious charges is entitled to a strong defense, as well as a fair trial. Everyone who has been charged with a crime has the right to share their side of the story in court.
