Imagine walking across the street in Covington when a car suddenly hits you. You’re thrown against the windshield before landing on the ground. It’s a frightening scenario. However, it has become all too common in one Kentucky city.
In recent weeks, four different people were involved in pedestrian accidents in Lexington. Two people died and the others suffered serious injuries.
The latest accident happened on May 20 around 10 p.m. Police aren’t sure if the pedestrian was attempting to cross the road or was simply stepping out onto the road. They were rushed to the hospital immediately after the accident.
Authorities say many of the accidents happened on large roads that are typically very busy. Police are warning pedestrians to use cross walks or signals before they attempt to cross a busy road.
Although pedestrians need to do what they can to stay safe, drivers must also remain attentive and alert and be sure they are looking out for pedestrians.
A pedestrian is no match for a vehicle. When someone is involved in a pedestrian accident, he or she could suffer devastating injuries. As evidenced by some of the recent accidents in Kentucky, some of those injuries may be fatal.
