Eighteen years after two women were killed in a Kentucky massage parlor, an investigator involved in the case has been arrested for allegedly tampering with evidence. With such serious criminal charges, the accused would be wise to begin working on a strong criminal defense.
The murder took place in 1994. A 22-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman who worked at the massage parlor were found shot and stabbed. The 49-year-old man who was recently arrested was the lead investigator in the case. He was one of the first officers on the scene. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police haven’t said what led them to the former lead investigator. However, they say they are hopeful his arrest will help them solve the case once and for all.
Although police want to solve the case, criminal charges cannot be thrown around. A person who is convicted of a serious crime could be faced with hefty penalties. In every criminal case, authorities must have just cause to charge an individual.
While police may seem confident in their case against an individual, a conviction can only be secured after prosecutors have proven their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
When people in Kentucky are accused of a serious crime they would be wise to begin working with an experienced criminal defense attorney. An attorney will not only defend an individual against the charges, they will also ensure that an individual’s rights are protected throughout the criminal proceedings. With a strong defense, an individual may face reduced charges and even lesser penalties.
